Privacy Policy

Overview

GE Margin ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect when you use gemargin.com, how we use it, and what choices you have. We operate a free tool for Old School RuneScape players and have no interest in collecting more data than is necessary to run the site.

This policy was last updated on 21 February 2026. If we make material changes, we will update the date above.

Data We Collect

Server logs: Like all websites, our hosting infrastructure (Cloudflare Pages and Cloudflare Tunnel) automatically records standard web server logs. These include your IP address, the page or resource requested, your browser user agent, and the timestamp of the request. These logs are used solely for security monitoring, abuse prevention, and performance analysis. We do not use server log data for advertising or profiling.

Analytics: We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how visitors use the site in aggregate — which pages are popular, how long sessions last, and where traffic comes from. GA4 collects anonymised usage data via a JavaScript tag. It does not collect your name or contact information. You can opt out of GA4 tracking via the Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-on.

Account data (optional): If you choose to sign in with Discord OAuth, we store your Discord user ID, username, and avatar URL in our database. We also store the data you explicitly save: your watchlist items, price alerts, and trade log entries. This data is stored on our privately-operated server and is never sold or shared with third parties.

Local storage: If you use the site without signing in, your watchlist, alerts, and trade log are stored in your browser's local storage. This data never leaves your device unless you choose to sync it to an account.

Cookies

Essential cookies: If you sign in, we set a session cookie to keep you logged in. This cookie is required for authentication and cannot be disabled without logging out. It contains an encrypted JWT token with your session data and expires when you sign out or after 30 days of inactivity.

Analytics cookies: Google Analytics sets cookies (typically named _ga and _ga_*) to distinguish unique visitors and sessions. These are first-party cookies set on the gemargin.com domain and persist for up to 2 years. You can decline these via the cookie consent banner on your first visit.

Advertising cookies: On content pages (guides, landing pages, about, and this privacy page), we use Ezoic for advertising. Ezoic and its advertising partners may set cookies to serve personalised ads based on your browsing behaviour and to measure ad performance. Third-Party Services

Cloudflare: We use Cloudflare Pages for hosting and Cloudflare Tunnel to connect our API server. Cloudflare processes all web traffic passing through gemargin.com and is subject to Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.

Google Analytics 4: Used for aggregated, anonymised traffic analysis. Data is processed by Google and subject to Google's Privacy Policy. IP addresses are anonymised before storage.

Ezoic: We use Ezoic to serve advertisements on select content pages. Ezoic is a Google Certified Publishing Partner and operates its own consent management platform. Ezoic and its advertising partners may use cookies and device identifiers to deliver personalised advertising. For full details, see the Ezoic privacy disclosures embedded below.

Discord OAuth: If you choose to sign in, you are redirected to Discord's OAuth service. We only receive the permissions you grant: your Discord user ID, username, and avatar. We do not receive your Discord email, password, or any other account data. Discord's handling of your data during OAuth is governed by Discord's Privacy Policy.

How We Use Your Data

We use the data described above only for the following purposes:

To operate and improve gemargin.com and its features
To authenticate you and maintain your session when signed in
To store and sync your watchlist, alerts, and trade log across devices (account users only)
To detect and prevent abuse, spam, and security threats
To understand aggregate site usage via Google Analytics
To serve relevant advertisements on content pages via Ezoic (with your consent)

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

Data Retention

Server logs are retained for up to 30 days for security purposes, then automatically deleted. Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months (GA4 default). Account data (watchlist, alerts, trades) is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated data is permanently deleted within 30 days.

Browser local storage data (used for guest mode) remains in your browser until you clear it manually. GE Margin does not have access to delete local storage data on your behalf.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal data under applicable law (including GDPR for EU residents and CCPA for California residents). These rights may include:

Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data
Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated data
